Years Playing Guitar: 38 Instruments: Guitar, Baritone Guitar, Bass Guitar, Horns Occupation: Professional Musician Review: Having never tried Curt Mangan strings before, I was a little reluctant. However, since CM was the only company I found that actually listed a string length for their baritone strings, and since my recently purchased baritone guitar was a 30.75" scale, I needed to know length if I didn't want to start building an unwanted baritone string collection. I was extremely surprised by the tone of these strings. I half-way expected a cheap, tinny sound. Instead, I got solid, full tones that I expect from professional-grade strings. For the baritone, the 14-68 set offers an incredibly full and thick lower end. I tuned them B to B. The Southern, Rock-a-billy sound from these strings added to my Gretsch baritone, and an old Molly Hatchet tune took me to a foggy, wooded area where the tones seemed to creep along the forest floor and you could see mounted knights in shining armor racing through the trees. ...Yeah, VERY COOL!!! I am definitely a CM customer now. Add to that the professionalism of the String Baby team in working with me and I'm completely sold. I also purchased the 13-62 baritone set. I haven't tried them yet but I am really looking forward to it. Just one consideration: Get the lighter set if you're wanting to bend these babies a whole lot. The heavier set takes some pretty good strength to push around. If you're still wondering, don't. Just get them. You'll be glad you did!
